Work With A Firm That Provides ISO 9001 Consulting

By Murray Peters

The ISO 9001, established in 1979, calls for organizations to take a hard look at quality management systems and apply effective controls. This can be a very challenging and time-consuming process, especially for workers who are sometimes a little reluctant in making changes to working habits that they have developed over time. That is why many organisations have come to look at this process in a negative light.

But what countless organizations do not understand, is that conducting this kind of operational audit can actually be a great thing. This is simply because a number of the steps linked to becoming ISO 9001 certified will require you to assess your current production workspace and pin point any risks together with the way your company makes use of QC measures. Completing this analysis can be extremely useful for your company because it might result in the discovery of wasted resources as well as new ways to increase the output of your employees and their work environment.

If you want your company to become ISO 9001 certified then you basically have two options. You may either try and do it yourself, or you can hire an external agency that specializes in ISO 9001 consulting and ISO 13485 training to come into your place of business and manage the whole process on your behalf.

Is this kind of operational audit something my company can do in house?

While doing things yourself is certainly not a bad idea, it can be a very painful process that is often better left to an outside agency. Mainly because a third party firm will be in the best position to deliver an objective look at your current business practices as it relates to the controls established by the ISO 9001 standard.

In addition to this, a well established ISO 9001 consulting agency will also be able to give you a detailed description of your faults and also provide recommendations which will bring your business into full conformity. Trying to do this in-house can sometimes be a real headache as it's quite easy to miss some of the small details that come with this complex standard. Along with a full operational audit, an outside agency can also be able to provide other important services like ISO 13485 training.
