When it comes to juicing, one thing that you want to keep in mind is the amount of fruits and vegetables you are purchasing in relation to the amount of juice that you wish to produce. A good rule of thumb is that one cup of juice will result from approximately a pound of product.

If you are going to juice, be sure that you have a designated area set up just for this purpose. Although juicing is a very good idea, it does take up a lot of space an can get messy at times, which is why it is good to have your own area when doing it.

Use a lot of items with high water content if you find yourself dealing with water retention. Foods like watermelon, celery, and cucumber are all high in water content so juice away with these to help your water retention issues. For most health issues that you may be experiencing, there's a produce that can help.

Different preparations of food creates different kinds of juices. For example, the flavors, colors, and consistencies of your freshly juiced fruits and vegetables will be much different from those of canned juices. Fresh is generally always best, especially when it comes to a healthy juice diet like the one you're on.

Some people claim that mixing fruit and vegetables in your juice leads to indigestion as the enzymes required to break down fruit are very different than those to break down vegetables. I, personally, have never had a problem, but if you find you have any tummy upset after drinking a mixed juice then you should probably stick to one or the other.

Do not attempt to juice fruits that are extremely soft, such as bananas. If you want banana in your beverage, juice the other fruits first then place the fresh juice and bananas in a blender until smooth. Bananas do not juice well and you want to get the most from your produce.

To help with medical problems you may be having, see if there is a vegetable or fruit that you can juice. For most health conditions that we experience, there is a food out there that can provide nutrients to help us overcome them. Research what can help your particular problem, and start juicing away.

Juice your softer fruits first and then send down your harder items. The hard textured fruit will do the job of cleaning the fruit that was left behind by the softer items. This means more juice for you and less clean up as well. Follow that trick and you'll usually get the maximum amount of juice in your glass, not left in the juicer.

When you first begin juicing, it is wise to avoid dark green leafy vegetables, such as dandelion leaves and kale. Although these vegetables are good nutritionally, they are also quite powerful and your stomach may not be able to handle them initially. You can slowly introduce these vegetables to your juicing routine.
